2012 March Meeting

Our meeting this month was on Wednesday, March 28.  This was the official kick off of the two projects for our Christmas in July 2013 SAL.  It looks like a dozen plus plan to stitch BlackBird Design's Christmas Garden and a slightly smaller number are going to try Victoria Sampler's Twelve Days - some in sampler form and some in ornaments.

Sandy Wilder is leading the Twelve Days project, and promises to help those of us who need help with the hardanger heart at the bottom of the sampler.  Here is her start:
I picked up my pattern Wednesday night and was surprised to see how narrow it is.  I think it will be a fairly quick stitch...and it is a skinny piece of fabric for once.  Yes!

Toni DeJohn is leading the Christmas Garden project...beautiful, but big.  Here is Toni's start:
I can't wait to see everyone's progress on whichever design you are working on.  If you would like the digital photo of your work posted on this blog, please email it to Toni, Sandy, or Bobbi and we will try to get it posted.  Even if you can't send a photo, feel free to comment here and let us know how it is going.  The more of us who participate in the blog, the more fun it will be.

Here are a few photos of some of the projects our members were working on and brought to show:
Cheryl has about 2/3 of this sampler completed.
It think it is called The Companion to Beatrix Potter, from NeedlePrint.

Terry's beautiful Herbularius project from Chatelaine.
Martina's designs are absolutely gorgeous.
It is my aspiration to stitch one of these designs someday.
I think Terry said that this was her third;
maybe she would share some photos
of her other two, if possible.

Marty had two of the Prairie Schooler Santas to show.
These have really become classics over the years.

Rita was working with waste canvas
on these two darling little garments for some lucky little girl.
Really cute.
Rita told me the name of the lady on the orange piece
(from Beatrix Potter), but I can't remember.
Can anyone help with this info?
Please comment if you know.

I took a couple of other photos, but can't find them on my computer.  If I run across them, I will add them at a later date.  It is really fun and interesting to see what everyone is doing.

We hope to see you at April's meeting.  At this point it is described as a stitch in with a possible new project being introduced.  Your Program Committee will update you further on this before the meeting.

Happy Stitching.  Remember...the colder days that we are having after that warmer and longer than usual spring tease are great for stitching!

2012 February Meeting

There was no formal business meeting due to low attendance because of illnesses and Ash Wednesday.

Jodi Ferrini of Harvest Moon Needleworks taught a class on her piece titled "Out of the Box".
Several different stitches are used in this design.
Jodi demonstrated a different technique using lazy daisy stitches
to create depth in the flowers.
She also showed everyone how to do Colonial knots.
Everyone really enjoyed Jodi's helpful and friendly teaching style.

Up close and personal demonstration.

March's meeting will be Wednesday, March 28th.
This will be the official kick off of the Christmas in July 2013 SAL.
Don't forget that the patterns and supplies
for either of the two selected designs
are being offered to WRSG Members at The Crafty Ewe
at a 15% discount.

WRSG Stitch Along Announced

It was announced at the January meeting that the Guild is having a Stitch Along (SAL) for those who are interested in participating.  It is the Christmas In July 2013 SAL.  Two projects have been selected:  Christmas Garden from BlackBird Designs and the Twelve Days Sampler from Victoria Samplers.

Toni announced that Carol at The Crafty Ewe in Broadview Heights, www.thecraftyewe.net/, has agreed to offer the patterns and supplies needed for completion (not framing) at a 15% discount to card carrying WRSG members.  We hope you can fit one of these projects into your stitching rotation.  The SAL will officially begin at the March meeting and will conclude at the July 2013 meeting.  Sounds like plenty of time.  LOL!
